First of all, thanks to Vice President Katherine Plenger for arranging the 2023 Members Garden Tour, Mary Barnes for officiating the ceremony, and President Bitsey Crismon for hosting the Installation of New Officers in her garden gazebo. More about that later…
We are grateful to the 2023 Garden Tour hostesses who opened up their yards – Paulette Shaw, Betty Lahiri, Viviane Tondeur, and Donna Runyan.
We started at Paulette’s sprawling backyard, a spectacular outdoor oasis for entertaining and relaxation. Paulette’s talent and skill for gardening and arts & crafts is evident throughout, and many of us were inspired by the various displays.
Past President and Floral Designer Betty Lahiri showcased her talents and welcomed us to her “Secret Garden.”

Viviane’s “friendship” garden salutes TWGC members and neighbors who shared plants, seeds, and cuttings. The front yard “pocket prairie” is a Certified Wildlife Habitat and a Registered Pollinator Garden.

Did you hear that thunder rumble? On our way to Donna’s the downpour started… We admired the beautiful backyard from the shelter of the covered patio and Donna kindly provided pictures after the storm.

The weather forced the installation ceremony and picnic indoors and we appreciate Bitsey accommodating 40+ hungry and wet garden club members. Sharon Podolski was named “Member of the Year,” and outgoing President Bitsey had a surprise gift for all the committee chairs.
We welcome Sally Centrich, President and Sherry Copeland, Vice President, and welcome back Mauri Holguin, Secretary and Sharon Podolski, Treasurer as Executive Officers of The Woodlands Garden Club. Gratitude to outgoing President Bitsey Crismon and outgoing Vice President Katherine Plenger for their contributions to the club.

Thanks to Joe Podolski for the BBQ and all the members who brought side dishes, salads and desserts. It was delicious!

Thanks to all the photographers including Vivian Cherry, Sabrina Crooke, Maxine Wells, Sherry Copeland, Donna Runyan and Viviane Tondeur.
“It was a great success even if the rain came. That’s part of gardening,” said Paulette.
