Photo Gallery Meeting October 10, 2023

Ally Smith took us “Bee-Hind The Scenes” of Bee EZ Apiary of Montgomery. Thanks to Sherry for arranging the program.

TWGC Vice President Sherry Copeland with Ally Smith

We learned about pollinator gardens, Texas native bees, honey bees, and bee therapies. Ally brought a recently rescued live hive and a beautiful gift for the monthly drawing!

For the Plant Study TWGC member Raksha Patel selected the Parijat Tree (Night-flowering Jasmine), a very important symbol in her culture. The trees in her garden were started from seeds she brought from India. The fragrant blooms open up at night and fall from the branches as soon as the sun rises. She collects the flowers in the morning and brings them to the temples in The Woodlands.

Thanks to the hostesses for a delicious luncheon, and to Betty Lahiri for the beautiful room decor including the rare Osage Oranges (hedge apples). Here’s a link to the quirky history of the Osage Orange, Texas ugliest fruit.

Committee chairs shared important information and Judy Jones conducted another great drawing – while recruiting volunteers for future plant studies. Thanks Judy, that was awesome and all slots are filled! Gratitude to the members who brought plants for the horticulture table and added to the drawing.
