Meeting October 12, 2021

Lots of fun stuff going on this month! Come any time after 8 am to help set up the room for the meeting starting at 9:15 am; social time is at 9 am. Turn left around the building and follow the garden club signs. There is parking near the meeting room entrance. Do NOT enter at the main building. RSVP is required to allow for room set-up, health precautions, and luncheon. Attendance is limited and if you are not on the RSVP list you will not be permitted to enter; no guests at this time. We hope you are well, but if you don’t feel well, please stay home.

Save the date: Thursday, October 21 – Donna Marie has a field trip for us, to fabulous Kim’s Home & Garden Center at the historic Top o’ the Hill Farm in Huntsville filled with amazing selections of home decor, gifts, gourmet foods, accent furniture, fine art and antiques. The Garden Center has the largest selection of plants and landscape supply in the area.

The horticulture program is on the stunning fiddle-leaf fig plant presented by member Sharon Podolski. Try to win one in our drawing!

Betty Lahiri is the lead for the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs fundraising gala on December 10; set up is on December 9. Our Club will be hosting the Silent Auction. Please note volunteers need to purchase a ticket ($35) to the gala. Sharon Podolski is signing up volunteers for the Arts & Crafts Sale at The Woodlands Wildflower Festival on November 6, and Mary Barnes will be collecting items for Interfaith, the women’s shelter, and the animal shelter. Please make sure items are not expired.

TWGC Floral Group: October 19 at Sharon’s house. Do you have small jars or vases – anything with a smaller mouth and not too tall, and/or ferns, greenery and flowers from your garden? Please let Sherry know in advance what you will be bringing to plan what is needed.
