Photo Gallery Meeting March 14, 2023

“With quality potting soil, the proper container, and the right location, you can grow just about anything in a container garden,” says Mary Khazen Karish, a Master Gardener. She gave an informative program on the basics of container plant care and maintenance. In the second part of the program Floral Designer Betty Lahiri displayed several combinations and containers. Click on the link to see a special feature in The Woodlander with Betty Lahiri, Sharon Podolski, and Mary Barnes demonstrating 8 steps to create the perfect container arrangement.

Jo Herst presented the plant study on the jade plant (a popular choice for containers). A mature jade plant may grow tiny white flowers in late winter or spring. Just right for St Patrick’s Day, this bright green plant symbolizes longevity and good luck. Jo donated her plant to the drawing, and Vivian Cherry brought cuttings from her family’s heirloom jade plant for the horticulture table which were also added to the drawing.

Thanks to Betty Lahiri for the beautiful room decor, and the hostesses for a delicious luncheon.

Thanks to Ann Young for bringing the bird nest jewelry she is making for the plant sale, Paulette Shaw for gifting a lovely birdhouse/planter box to the drawing (congratulations to Diane Wedgeworth for winning the prize!), and Betty for donating 4 table arrangements for the plant sale. Mary Barnes collected Easter gifts for the children in the women’s shelter.
