Fall is almost here and our meeting room was decorated with gorgeous colors. We welcomed several new members and it was nice to see everyone after the long, hot summer! Great turnout of 45 members, almost full room capacity.
President Bitsey Crismon introduced the new meeting format, no more business (that’s taken care of at the board meetings) but more fun and sharing, and Sharon Podolski, Ways & Means Committee Chair, passed around the volunteer sign up sheet for the Fall Crafts & Plant Sale at The Woodlands Farmer’s Market at Grogan’s Mill on Saturday, October 15th.
Viviane Tondeur presented the plant study on “Curcuma” aka turmeric plant or Siam Tulip, and the club donated the plant to the drawing. Congrats to lucky winner Donna Runyan who took home the prize!
We are bringing back the “horticulture table” and members are invited to bring a cutting from their garden to the meetings and share information. Viviane started off with Red Pine Cone Ginger and we look forward to see what is growing in your garden!
The September hostesses prepared a delicious luncheon and we had a great time catching up on everyone’s summer adventures.
Vice President Katherine Plenger introduced Tricia Bradbury, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, speaking about “Growing and Using Herbs.” Tricia brought delicious rosemary cookies and rose geranium pound cake. Click on the links for a recipe.
