What a beautiful day to make a visit to The University of Texas at Austin Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The center is dedicated to inspiring the conservation of native plants, and it did not disappoint. As the Botanic Garden of Texas, the Center displays native plants from across the state in its gardens and arboretum and serves as a model for creating beautiful, sustainable landscapes.

The center features 284 acres mixed with cultivated gardens, an arboretum, managed natural areas and wildlands that straddle the Edwards Plateau and Texas Blackland Prairies with more than 1,000 species of native Texas Plants.

A few of us managed to make the hike up the spiral staircase of The Observation Tower. It offered us a birds-eye view of the beautiful grounds, and to our surprise a Green Roof (Robb’s Roost) with a sitting area to enjoy the view.
Inside the Little House we learned all about the history of Lady Bird Johnson, the Center and various types of mosses and plants.

Thanks to Michelle for organizing a great trip!
