TWGC Field Trip To Antique Rose Emporium

Thankful for a sunny day we set out early to Independence in Washington Co, home of the Antique Rose Emporium with its 8 acres of display gardens. We shopped their incredible selection of… you guessed it… antique roses + native plants, perennials, herbs, wildflowers and succulents. Sharon found a most unique variety called “Veilchenblau” aka the “blue rose.”

While the display gardens were definitely affected by the recent freeze we enjoyed pops of color, garden decor ideas, the gift shop, and the historic buildings.

It was interesting to see the inoculated logs for sale after Ian Fenwick introduced us to mushroom growing at the January meeting.

We had a lovely luncheon at Must be Heaven and explored downtown Brenham.

Thanks to Sharon for organizing a wonderful trip and Mary and Sally for driving.
