The Woodlands Garden Club has a long history with Brookwood Community and it is always a special treat to visit. The annual Fall Fest has lots of gorgeous plants (many are grown by Brookwood Horticulture in their 28 green houses), fall decor, and a delicious buffet in The Café.

We shopped for unique items and met the local artisan vendors, took advantage of the plant sales, and enjoyed a delicious luncheon. When Sharon found out one of our table companions was celebrating a birthday, she arranged for a cake with a candle and the entire staff to sing with us. Soon the entire dining room was participating and clapping! Vivian and Mauri enjoyed Brookwood’s Signature Salad so much they went back to the gift shop to buy the Mesibov Dressing. The gift shop sells “Citizen Made” products and we had the privilege of meeting one of the artists.

We admired (but did not buy) the unique Stapelia Cactus aka Stinkflower, and Donkey’s Ears, a member of the Mother of Thousands family.

Brookwood offers many volunteer opportunities including horticulture and gift shop. Thanks to Vivian Cherry for organizing a wonderful field trip, and Mary Barnes for driving the carpool.
