February speaker Baxter Williams recommends Congo Nursery in Pasadena for roses, and “oh, they have other plants too.” Do they ever! Donna Marie arranged a field trip and we came back with car loads of happy and healthy plants.
It’s not a big nursery, but the plants are healthy, happy, and interesting, and there’s a nice collection of pottery and ornaments. Best of all the owner and her daughter are helpful and knowledgeable.
As promised the selection of roses was amazing. The 2023 list is 3 pages long!
A highlight of Woodlands Garden Club field trips is “the lunch” and this one was another fabulous destination, Pine Street Cafe at Silver Sycamore.
An after lunch stroll through the western-inspired town of Sycamoreville, the onsite B&B, and beautiful gardens were the perfect ending to a perfect day!
