Congratulations to The Woodlands Garden Club member Vilma Jurado taking 1st place in the educational category with her presentation of “The Flight Of The Monarchs.” Yes, that’s a real live caterpillar on the milkweed!

The Woodlands Garden Club member Mary Vacek, a flower show judge, kindly explained the standards and awards in the horticulture division – red, blue and white ribbons.
Floral design “From Sea To Shining Sea” starting with Niagara Falls (Cascade Design) to Bryce Canyon (Construction Design) to the Giant Sequoias (Transparency Design), with Mary presenting her entry “The Mighty Wonder Of The Hoodoos,” using Butterfly Ginger (Hedichium coronarium) for her plant material. Wow!

Flower shows set standards of artistic and horticultural excellence; broaden knowledge of horticulture, flower arrangement, conservation, and other related areas; and share the beauty of a show with fellow club members and the public. Mission accomplished!
